Modern ways to “travel” extend beyond physical transportation. Hallucinogens such as LSD, extracted and synthesized from Ergot, often referred to as “Trips” or described as “traveling on acid,” offer a mental journey. While airplanes, bullet trains, and boats provide rapid physical transit; options unavailable or inaccessible when flying carpet legends were first imagined. With each new technology, elements of our history are replaced, and pieces of tradition and folklore risk being forgotten. Everyday life becomes increasingly focused on immediacy, efficiency, and speed.
These rugs are hand-woven using a latch hook technique, emphasizing the value of tradition and slow, intentional processes. Each piece represents an LSD sheet, divided into grids over an illustration that alludes to the name of the “Trip” or acid depicted. The original Spanish titles of each rug play with language, combining Ácido (acid) with Has idoor Has sido (have you been / have you become), creating a word game that deepens the conceptual layer of the work.
